Right gents and gentesses, here we go. I have included weapons at the following nominal costs:

AIM-4 100k
AIM-9 (any era) 650k
AIM07 (any era) 125k
AIM-120 (any model) 350k
AIM-54 477k
French Matra rubbish 72k
Skyflash est'd 650k

And here we are. I have plotted separate datasets for guns-only, early-, mid-, and late-missile (very roughly 1954-1970, 1971-1999, 2000-onwards).

We now have an R^2 value of 0.73 for the latest gen jets with full warloads, which rather blew me away...

And the performance: cost ratio adjusted for warload costs.

Is it just me or are some of the Gripen datapoints missing the text labels in the graphs?

Excellent work though! Quite interesting.

As the Tiffie (and I think Gripen and Rafale) will be cleared for Meteor etc we cannot assume that "all missiles cost the same"......

It's just become operational on Swedish Gripens, not on the other fighters aiming to integrate it yet.
