The trailer is out, I think I need to see this one, it doesn't look at all like what I would have expected. The money shot is at the very end of the trailer.

I read some of the early reviews back in September after it was released at the Toronto Film Festival. Some of them were shocked that the movie wasn't another pro-Kennedy one. That they actually showed what a piece of scum Ted Kennedy was.

The movie also says that Mary Jo Kopechne didn't drown, she suffocated after a couple of hours. It means she could've been rescued had Kennedy alerted the authorities.

That has been reported several times over the years. Absolute scum.

I suspect it's more important that Teddy was never as nationally beloved as his older. Otherwise where's the blockbuster (or even critically-acclaimed indie) film depicting how JFK bungled the US into involvement in Vietnam (which most people lay at LBJ's feet... or Nixon's ), or his nigh-catastrophic bungling in Cuba (where the conventional wisdom, even now, is that he averted a disaster by standing up to Khruschev and forcing the Soviets to back down )?

Or how the White House was one giant brothel from 1961 to 1963.

Which takes us back to Red Dwarf and a time traveling JFK as the second gunman on the grassy knoll. Kennedy's assassination was the most effective thing that could have been done to protect his legacy. Perhaps Lee Harvey Oswald was working for Kennedy, a la Angel being hired for a suicide?

There's just something toxic about the whole Kennedy Family; goes back to Joe, senior.

Of course, we all know how he had his daughter lobotomized, how he pillaged his way through the stock market during the Crash of 1929 and how he played footsie with various bootlegging interests during Prohibition. He was such a PITA to Roosevelt that the President made him Ambassador to the Court of St. James, and we all know how that worked out.

Joe, Jr is the only Kennedy I ever had any respect for, and he got blown into next week flying a plane full of TNT.

JFK; assassinated in 1963

RFK assassinated in 1968

Teddie kills Marry Jo Kopechhne in 1969 and later dies of malignant brain cancer

JFK junior drives his plane into the ocean while he and his wife are aboard; both are killed.

I have toyed with an alt-hist where Joe Jr. goes to Berlin for the Olympics, and comes back home convinced of two things: (1) there's going to be another war in Europe and (2) The US is going to get dragged into it.

Upon his graduation from university, he joins the US Army Air Corps and comes under the tutelage of St. Curtis...
