I should be studying for exams, but this was a bunny that wouldn't leave me alone. I hacked out this and will likely finish another piece by the end of the week before stopping all creative projects for the rest of the month.

Ooh, this looks interesting...

Hope this wasn't a case of some dipwad unplugging the router because "Well, this circuit doesn't do anything as far as I can tell and we need another port..."

I'm surprised it wasn't "Let there by light."

Eerily similar to a cruelly damaged late-model BOLO when its nannites belatedly repair a critical mass of CPU modules and self-organisation re-boots...

Not a Bolo.

Considering how long it took the computers to charge the reactor it's not just an unplugged router...

I based that on an actual incident where I may have made some intemperate remarks.

Fair enough.

The AI won't be the only point of view character, but for the moment she/it is the one we follow. New part in the works.

roughly 110 years after an extinction level event? Man has devolved into cannibalism and stone age tools? Robot to lead man back to the stars?

S.M. Stirling "The General" series as a possible inspiration?

INTERESTED!!!!!

As much as I like Peshawar Lancers, no cannibalism. Without saying too much, my inspiration is taken more from more 'realistic' postapocalyptic works, so no extinction level event either.

Though yeah, this is inspired by The General, among many, many other things including the best Video game I've played in recent months.

I'm having final exams next week, so you'll have to wait until after that.

It's been a long, long time (1974 !!), but your mention still made my goose-bumps rise...

I'm continuing to write between spurts of studying (just to keep my brain from exploding) but it's unlikely I'll get anything done.
