While not shipbucket, I've been working on a pixel art map for a Geo-political RPG on another board: I'm starting to hate having to come up with unique colors for every PC and NPC.

For same RPG:

Image

When from the terrors of Nature a people have fashion’d and worship a Spirit of Evil,
Blest he the Voice of the Teacher who calls to them
‘Set yourselves free!’

Noble the Saxon who hurl’d at his Idol a valorous weapon in olden England!
Great and greater, and greatest of women, island heroine, Kapiolani
Clomb the mountain, and flung the berries, and dared the Goddess, and freed the people
Of Hawa-i-ee!

A people believing that Peelè the Goddess would wallow in fiery riot and revel
On Kilaue-ä,
Dance in a fountain of flame with her devils, or shake with tier thunders and shatter her island,
Rolling her anger
Thro’ blasted valley and flaring forest in blood-red cataracts down to the sea!

Long as the lava-light
Glares from the lava-lake
Dazing the starlight,
Long as the silvery vapour in daylight
Over the mountain
Floats, will the glory of Kapiolani be mingled with either on Hawa-i-ee.

What said her Priesthood?
‘Woe to this island if ever a woman should handle or gather the berries of Peelè!
Accurséd were she!
And woe to this island if ever a woman should climb to the dwelling of Peelè the Goddess!
Accurséd were she!’

One from the Sunrise
Dawn’d on His people, and slowly before him
Vanish’d shadow-like
Gods and Goddesses,
None but the terrible Peelè remaining as Kapiolani ascended her mountain,
Baffled her priesthood,
Broke the Taboo,
Dipt to the crater,
Call’d on the Power adored by the Christian, and crying ‘I dare her, let Peelè avenge herself ’!
Into the flame-billow dash’d the berries, and drove the demon from Hawa-i-ee.
-Alfred Lord Tennyson

While taking a break from Bremerton (She's on the docket for getting finished tomorrow), I worked with a friend on the following for the above mentioned game:

Image

  • Length: 290.7 ft
  • Diameter: 30 ft
  • Draft: 28 ft
  • Displacement:
    • 3200 kton surfaced
    • 4700 kton submerged
  • Power: 1x25kSHP nuclear reactor (Limited to about 8kSHP
  • Crew: 70x (10 O, 10 CPO, 50 E)
  • 6 torpedo tubes, 20 reloads
  • flank sonar + bow sonar + towed array

Designed as a cheaper, smaller counterpart to the large and fast SSN-719 class. It's essentially a diesel electric submarine with the diesel replaced by a "Lightweight Nuclear Powerplant". The LWNP was designed as a replacement for a gas turbine, but it's lack of air requirement makes it excellent for submarine use. It is notably slower and quieter than the SSN-719, especially when running on batteries and the reactor shut down. It can run at full speed for about 4 years before refueling is required. This submarine is also in service in foreign navies. Notably, the Royal Hawai'ian Navy has acquired 5 of them, with an option on a sixth.

Something I cooked up for fun. While the drawings are very similar to the above work, they are not for that game:

Lockheed Environmentally Responsible Aircraft, as described in Scott Lowthar's US Transport Projects #3

Image

In the same document, the Boeing 763-058 NLA design is also described:

Image

In comparison to other large airliners:

Image

What is not visible is that the fuselage is 33% wider than a 747, and is circular in cross section, resulting in a lower deck that is likely 3+3+3+3 and an upper deck that is at least 2+3+2.

In the early 1970s, faced with the prospect of large numbers of soviet submarines and block obsolescence of all war era production, a group of NATO and allied naval officers drew up a design for what they called the "Free World Frigate". Small and light enough to be mass produced and handed out to third and fourth rate powers like Oprah gave away cars, the craft would have:
  • Dutch Electronics
  • French SAMs, CIWS (Catulle spin-stabilized rocket launcher), & SSMs
  • Australian ASW (Ikara)
  • British helos (two Lynxes)
  • A pair of American guns

Image

While she would not have had the space or size to be a good ASW combatant, one imagines that in large numbers she could have made life quite a bit harder for soviet subs in any conflict.

And after the Nato officers kicked it around a bit, this is what the design looked like when it was sent to the politicians for funding and the engineering groups 2nd stage design work:

And this is what was eventually authorized and procured:

The First LNG powered Container Ship in the world launched earlier this year from San Diego.

I know the superstructure has some errors, and will fix them as I get more and better pictures:
