Magnet is on course 45, speed 24 knots. She has continued to observe the Italian convoy. The enemy battleship has not fired upon us. The enemy has completed a smoke screen that has obscured the convoy. Last known course seemed to be course 45.

Kaiser Karl VI is on course 90, speed 11 knots. She is leading Panther and Leopard towards the convoy. Flooding in the stern is under control. Max speed is 17 knots. She can see the smoke of either Magnet or Dandalo.

Panther is on course 90, speed 11 knots.

Leopard’s status is the same as Panther.

The cruisers have not been under fire in the last 5 minutes. We have lost sight of the retreating Italian cruiser but have noted the approach of the enemy battleline to our rear.

Battle Divisions are on course 90 at 17 knots except for Ezherhog Karl.

Ezherhog Karl has assumed a position at the rear of the battleline. Flooding is serious but our speed is unaffected at 9 knots.

Escorting vessels are assuming their new positions in the formation.

We have noted the enemy battle line moving into position. Their speed appears to be about 18 knots. They are moving on course about 30 to intercept our battleline.

Panther report damage restricting her speed to 11kts. Attempt to repair and regain speed.

Cruisers shift course to 060. Maintain current steaming order and separation. Make smoke. Lots of it.

Going to need a bit more information before i can issue orders. If they maintain current course and speed, when is the Italian line projected to cross my axis of advance?

Assuming that the screen type vessels in the front of the formation maintain speed and position (ie stay with the battleline) you can expect the screen to enter firing range in 10 minutes. The Italian battleships should be able to engage your heavies in 15 minutes.

The entire Italian fleet is not fast enough to get between you and your cruiser force. Their destroyers and torpedo boats are fast enough to get between you and your cruisers if they go to flank speed.

If everyone maintains course and speed, the main Italian fleet; ie the battleships, will hit the center of your line in 20 minutes.

Ahhh, but can we expect the Italians to be so kind (read as stupid) to permit themselves to cross our T for 10 minutes while we pound the snot out of them?

I'd love to think they would, but I'm sure they wouldn't be that stupid.

However, I'm willing to find out how close they'll let themselves get before turning.

My guess is that they'll try to close the range until they have at least one ship sunk or out of line, and then they'll turn to broadsides.

So if nothing changes, we are going to wind up crossing their T?

If nothing changes. I wouldn't count on it.

Very well then, either way i see no profit in engaging in any further manoeuvres until the enemy gets closer. We could have given the enemy fleet the slip if it hadn't proven necessary to manoeuvre the battle line back and away from that damn torpedo trap. Really should have tried to counter it sooner. Ah well, what's done is done.

-No change in orders to Battleship and Torpedo Squadrons.
-Cruiser Squadron at commander's discretion, but Flag advises that present priority is to do as much damage as possible to those transports.
