Magnet exploded at 0754 hours. Cause unknown. She was last seen under fire by the Dandalo.

Kaiser Karl VI is on course 90, speed 11 knots. She is leading Panther and Leopard towards the convoy. Flooding in the stern is under control. Max speed is 17 knots. She can see the Dandalo.

Panther is on course 90, speed 11 knots.

Leopard’s status is the same as Panther.

The cruisers have not been under fire in the last 5 minutes.

Our Fleet is on course 112 at 17 knots except for Ezherhog Karl.

Escorting vessels are in their new positions in the formation.

We have noted the enemy battle line has turned to the East. Their rearmost elements are coming straight North while the vessels furthest East are on course 90.

The lead enemy vessel has fired upon the Kaiman or Anakonda. No hits were scored.

The map of the cruiser group is to follow. Everything on one map was a little too long.

Cruiser task force come to 045 and accelerate to 17 knots. Captains avoid collisions.

Soon there will be plenty for everyone to do, we're almost in range. Fleet continue course and speed and prepare for battle. All ships may open fire at their discretion once the range drops below 10 000 yards, or they they are fired upon by the enemy.

So we can fire on whoever we wish? Or is there a plan?

Of course there's a plan, specifically:

7) Each battleship must target its opposite on the Italian line to maintain suppression on the enemy gunners. If the fleet positions are such that some of the opposing line are unable to fire effectively, then divisional commanders may order their battleships to double up on the nearer or more exposed units.

In plain English, shoot whoever is shooting at us who is not being shot at, prioritizing the heaviest and nearest targets. That is, in the absence of more specific orders. At present, those cruisers that have decided to head directly north toward us look like the most enticing target, so i may order that they be engaged specifically.

Sorry Isabel.

I had forgotten about those fleet orders, since they were issued 9 months ago. I can't even blame grog for it.

Just to be clear about this, there's now 8 ships in our line, and 11 in thiers? The first 8 ships will be distraced and the last three will get, effectively, a free shot, yes?

Since my ships are going to be the last in line, and most likely the targets of uninhibited shellfire, I'd like to request that the destroyers and/or torpedo boats make runs at the enemy battle line to confuse them a bit, even if its just at the last squadron or division of the Italian line.

Can I have my ships open fire at the Italian cruisers when they get in range, since they are closer than the Italian battle line?

Signal to fleet HQ ashore. Request information re locations of friendly minefields.

Plot, update map with location of last position of Magnet before the explosion. Flag captain, do we have paravanes and what is the best speed we can mantain if deployed?

There are no reported friendly minefields in this area. Paravanes have not been invented yet. They appeared in WWI.
