Some of you may remember a longtime poster who went by the handle KimW. A retired major in the New Zealand Army, armourer, and geologist, he was a contributor to this board and its predecessors for many years. I have just learned via another board that Major John Kim Williams passed away 30th June 2010 aged 63 years.

We regret the passing of the Major. Kiwis are too few to be easily spared. Our sympathy to his family and friends.

This is a great loss to the entire internet community. KimW was a well-informed voice of sanity and he will be much-missed. I wish him joy in Fiddler's Green.

I suspect it was my misfortune not to have known of him...

Ahh, crap.

That's terrible news. My condolences to his family.

Was he the guy going for a grad degree in geology within the last few years? I seem to remember there was another one on the board who was doing the grad school thing at the same time I was.

Liked every post he made, this is such a loss.

I can't imagine what his family has been going through.

Sorry to hear that, but thanks for letting us know, Theodore. I remember him posting from back in the day. As Belushi said, and I share Stuart's and Nick's sentiments as well.

May God have mercy on his soul.

This reminds me of when Carr died back in the day and Bob's board didn't find out till nearly two years later...

Another wonderful mind lost there to.

KimW was an intelligent, articulate and interesting member of the community here. A sad loss, especially for his family.

I was always under the impression that KimW was your archetypal Pakuha Kiwi. They are good people.

RIP buddy.

Jonathan
