Yes, one of the Old Ladies flew over, her engines growling defiance at those wretched modern apologies for aircraft. A fantastic sight that really made my day!

I wonder if it's the same one I saw a couple of days ago fly by my house here in SE Pa. New Garden airfield has an air show every year. All kinds of stuff shows up and takes a few days to clear out. Saw a Hawker Hurricane fly over me while walking in the park one time about 10 years ago a week after the show.

I think it was two years ago I was sitting out side watching the woods about 300 meters away looking for a hawk that was out there with a pair of 11 power binoculars. Totally forgot about the airshow. All of a sudden a B-2 zips between the trees. I thought I was hallucinating!! Turns out the AF flew it out and made a couple of circles around the field.

Here's a short clip from last year's show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2WXrv1vONM

At 1:34 you can see the deuce and a half my neighbor across from me owns. He's the short guy with his back to you. He won a raffle a couple of years back and got a ride in a two seater Mustang.

The Commemorative Air force is bringing their war birds to Dallas next month. I'm gonna at least try to get there. Last years show was great.

That B-17 would have had a f(r)iend's mother hiding under the bed, quaking in fear. She lived through the bombardment of Ger,any.

Yes, those birds are magnificent. By comparison, the B-24 is a flying truck. Still, nice.

They only have real fighters. For example, they do have a Yak-3

Unfortunately, you couldn't be more wrong.

The A6m Zeros in the Tora!Tora!Tora! re-enactment group are all AT-6B conversions for the movie.

So the demonstrably have fake fighters.

I know; I looked up their inventory to make sure they had no German fighters. They do have one genuine A6M3 (I believe with a Japanese engine).

No, that one belongs to Planes of Fame. (They made a big deal out of it at last year's airshow.) The CAF's A6M is using a US engine, IIRC.

Yes they did, but the Mustang just for trials. The Fury in Navy service was a Sabre adapted for carrier service.

But in both cases much better aircraft for naval service were fielded;

Hellcat

Bearcat

Panther

Cougar

:D

Pfft, the original Fury in naval service didn't have a Sabre! And the second had a Centaurus... ;)

Had the Lanc overhead at the weekend, Sally B a fortnight back and recently heard an under/ over Avon setup light off...
