We're looking at the feasibility of setting up a Star Fleet Battles simulation system in the Simulations forum. We need to buy a license to the software but HPCA will look after that. Who's interested in taking part in said things?

I am interested; I am also interested in how this would work?

Hi guys. I've just bought myself a subscription to test things out. Here's how it works:

SFBOnline client gets downloaded (free) from http://www.sfbonline.com/index.jsp
One then needs to log into an account- more on that in a moment.
Once logged in, one can start a new game with any other user. More than two users can participate (so it's pretty much exactly SFB but over tinterwebz with your browser acting as energy allocation, board, SSD etc).
One does not need to have a game board set up at home BUT will need, or have a good working knowledge of, the game rules. The online game is not self-policing in that regard just as a board game between players isn't.
The battle is started; it can be saved and exited to resume at a later date etc.

Point to note, I've not actually joined battle yet as no-one around to kill me in short order be a willing victim.

Subscriptions: 12 months costs $79.95 (Stuart, sorry, got real and colonial money mixed up yesterday).

I am quite happy to create a TBOSFBOL account and fund it, as well as my own account, for anyone else who might like to join a game, in addition to anything TBO stumps up for; that way we can always have at least two "board" players if nothing else. Are you OK with that Stuart?

Just to whet the whistles of anyone still interested, here's a list of ships and some screenshots:

A history of the General War: http://starfleetgames.com/sfb/sfin/general_war.shtml NB Mike's description of the CVA MACARTHUR going down over Remus (nice touch btw Mike) is contained in OPERATION REMUS.

Was introduced to SFB on a hike for scouts. A friend hauled up the three huge modules and binders full of SSDs in his backpack. Been playing since the early 90s.

I want to be a Coalition Player. Klingon, Lyran or Romulan here. What era are we talking about? General War?

Be careful letting in some of the newer ships. They can be over-powered.

Just a note on the SSDs in the SFBOL client; they don't look like the SSDs you are used to in the dead tree version of the game. https://www.facebook.com/pg/Amarillo-De ... 2156623280

I actually broke out my old SSD books just to look them over. Those were good times!
