Nice to see the board back up.

I approve. :)

Also, did anyone screenshot or otherwise save the entire text of the error message?

Just a green background with Error 404: the page may have been removed, renamed or be under maintenance.

I got a blank white page for about the first 24 hours, then either the "unscheduled maintenance" message or a 404-ish message suggesting the page may have been deleted or moved and suggesting alternative links. It would go back and forth throughout the day.

Good to see the board back. Just in case I've updated my password.

The first error message that appeared for me was the one that goes something like "too many connections for user tboverse_stuart" that we've seen a few times in the past. Then replaced by the others described here.

Highly unlikely.

As for why there were 404 errors and sometimes "Unscheduled Maintenance" pages, the latter was loaded when /HPCAFORUM/phpbb3/ was the url, while any direct link to a page (such as /index.php, or /viewforum.php?f=19 ) threw up a 404 error. This is because of the quick and dirty methods I was using to get a message out to people.

We will probably never know why the forum was hacked and by who, ore should we just blame the Russians, North Koreans ore who ever is evil these days.

Let's blame the NORKS. We all dislike them, anyway.

We could blame the Germans, after all a certain author here on this forum nuked their country to the stone age.

Why not blame the CIA? We've been slagging them pretty hard lately, anyway.

Or the Clintons.

No lets not do that, they are already being attacked by a certain administration, we do not need to join in.

A serious word, we don't know we were attacked yet, there are other possibilities.

However, back to the theme of the posts. I would point an accusing finger at the North Koreans or the Democrat Party - but I repeat myself

Democrat Party - but I repeat myself

The Democrat Party cannot even keep their own servers secure from being hacked, let alone hack other internet sites.

Why don't we just blame the Russians since everyone else does. They're being Russians.

Thank you for that lovely flame-thrower pic.

The only one I could find for 'Big Bad Bugs' was black & white...

You had me worried for a moment. I was afraid someone went ballistic in the politics subforum and accidentally nuked the forum.
