A number of people on a sidewalk at Times Square have been run over by a speeding vehicle.
I'm listening to the FDNY radio feed and they're saying (early report) one dead, four critically injured and approximately 20 injured total.

In light of the European attacks this may be an islamist terrorist attack.

CNN says its being investigated as an accident, but they also just called in the bomb squad. That may be precautionary.

The latest I've read is that it was a dishonorably discharged Navy loser with a drinking problem. It's being looks at as suicide by cop. He reportedly stormed out of his car after it crashed shouting, "You were supposed to shoot me."

Rubber room time.

Supposedly tested positive for PCP and claimed that "God made me do it" in questioning. Not a particularly fine specimen of humanity.

PCP?

That brings back 80s ER flashbacks.

Forget the rubber room. Quick and speedy trial, and toss the loser to the boys of Cell Block C.

That night where I was the Assistant DNCO, and we had a guy on PCP break the MP's handcuffs. Admittedly defective cuffs, and he broke his own damn wrists while doing so. But we still collectively proved that adrenalin comes in two colors.

Oh, University Hospital saw lots of that in the 80s. They had hooks embedded in concrete walls that would hold a gurney with a 300 pound load, no sweat. Damn tweakers would rip them right out of the walls.
