jihadwatch.org Australia: Police tell bartenders, waiters and cleaners to be ready to combat Islamic State jihadis

Like so many other non-Muslim nations, Australia is in a state of war that it doesn’t want to admit. And so citizens have to do the job that soldiers aren’t doing. Yet they will be coming up against trained, ruthless, and determined jihad murderers.

“Bartenders, waiters and CLEANERS versus ISIS: Front of house staff warned to be ready to combat knife-wielding and truck-driving terrorists while they wait for police to arrive,” by Peter Devlin, Daily Mail Australia, December 3, 2017 (thanks to Kenneth):

Bartenders, waiters and cleaners have been warned to ready themselves to fight terrorists in the event of attacks.

In the lead up to New Year’s Eve celebrations police are telling nightclubs, restaurants, shopping centres and sports grounds across NSW their staff need to be trained to deal with armed terrorists.

Police have warned ‘front of house staff’ across a range if industries to prepare for a ‘probable’ terrorist attack, The Daily Telegraph reported.

Senior Sergeant Rob Fleischer said ‘frontline staff need to understand the plans’ in the event of an attack.

‘A lot of times it’s not going to be us (police) who are going to be dealing with the first five minutes. The first five minutes is front of house staff,’ he said.

Inspector Peter Aitken said the warning referred to ‘ushers, people who take money at checkouts, cleaners, security…. there’s a whole range.’

Staff must be able to spot suspicious behaviour and be ready to help patrons to safety during an attack.

This comes in the wake of the arrest of Somali-Australian alleged terrorist Ali Khalif Shire, who was accused of plotting an ISIS-inspired New Year’s Eve attack….

With what? Sticks? Hasn't the government been systematically disarming the public?

Did Oz disarm their population (or at least try) a few years ago?

The big gun buyback was in 1997.

Without police etc nearby most jihadis would have little chance of encountering anyone armed despite a recent upsurge in gun ownership.

This thought bubble from the police has not been repeated or, as far as I am aware, followed up in any meaningful way. If the NSW government was serious then my agency would be significantly affected.

My two cents.

I guess they need an arms locker with cutlasses, axes, and boarding pikes.

That's kinda neat. Probably the right weapon for close in combat. I hope you have a shield too. They work well together.
