Do we have any Fighting Flattops players here? I've recently started playing and it's a lot of fun - free, turn-based, online-only, WWII Pacific combat game. Might be fun to whale away at each other.

Just signed up to try it and am currently matched against BelushiTD. He should have a slaughterfest. I've not a clue as to what I am doing!

I dunno...

You had to tell me how to make my planes do recon. And move my ships.

Mutual slaughterfest, at the moment. We're taking turns beating up on each other's land bases. Lae Vs. Moseby. Not pretty.

This game has the potential to be EVIL!. I can just sense my free time slipping away, any time I find an opponent online who happens to be on at the same time I am.

The first one... When you join, they match you against the last person who joined, and the next person who joined. You play the Coral Sea air battle scenario.

What is your name over there, Theodore?

Ahh, "Carrier Duel." I am still playing out that one to the bitter end, although both sides have long since lost all their carriers. I did manage to whack the other guy's heavy ships though.

My name there is Theodore. Imaginative, huh?

Saw that. Its always been a mystery to me how someone who could come up with "Wake Releived" was unable to come up with a better screen name...

Oh well. As long as you keep your creativity aimed in directions of which I approve, you can call yourself anything you'd like online.

Well at least we'll know who's who. And I don't equate making your way around the interface to knowing what you're doing.

Moresby vs Lae, I don't know who's got the better yet. Every time I go to attack your grounded birds it says there's 10! It's like you have an unending stream of aircraft waiting.

Searching for your fleet is going to be the gotcha for me.

I've got a replicator sitting back there under the jungle canopy. Good luck finding it.

And yes, its going to be tough for you to find my fleet, since I've shot down most of your recon planes.

On the other hand, its going to be tough for me to do the same.

Well, since you enjoyed "Wake Relieved" so much, let's see if you can pull it off...

Mmmm, no. You weren't the only one that had troubles sorting the UI. I only figured out how to split my flights after the second turn when all my recon planes were out. Just waiting for them to return...

Damnable replicators.

So, after scratching my head for a few minutes I've finally figured out how to play. We'll see how this hunt for the dastardly Americans under Admiral Belushi plays out.

Nope. Not likely. I'll need rediculous amounts of luck to pull it off.

I'll figure out how to play first, then I'll get back to you.

I'm on as "Kolberg CO".

My initial opponent seems to have left the game.

No problem. The main website is blocked at work as well, and I think I'm one of the last people to not own a smart phone...

Me neither... I don't want to play games, surf the net or do any of that crap on a phone. I want to be able to make phone calls. And, really, I don't want to be able to make phone calls while mowing my lawn, or sitting in traffic, or anywhere else. If I'm not at my desk, or in my house, I don't want you to talk to me.

I'd rather not have a cell phone at all.

ANd now, to get back on topic... I just did a turn in the game with the guy who signed up previous to me...

By my calculations, I have now whacked all but one of the fighters that the japanese player starts the game with at Lae. That means I can now put a minimal CAP over Moresby and shuttle bomb/strafte Lae, at least unless/until the carriers show up. Did moderate damage to his guns, also.

Theodore - What does moderate mean in this case?

What does moderate mean? Got me. More than minor, less than major, I guess. Of course there's always the fog of war, and you know how aviators are about over-claiming.
